Production Process of Forging Titanium Flange

Forging titanium flanges involves several key steps to ensure the proper shaping and quality of the final product. Here’s a general outline of the production process:

  1. Material Selection: Start with high-quality titanium alloy material suitable for forging. The choice of alloy depends on the specific requirements of the application.
  2. Billet Preparation: The selected titanium alloy is heated to a temperature where it becomes malleable but not molten. This temperature varies depending on the specific alloy used.
  3. Die Preparation: Dies are prepared based on the desired shape and size of the flange. These dies will shape the heated titanium alloy into the final form of the flange.
  4. Forging Process:
    • Preform: The heated titanium billet is initially shaped into a rough form resembling the general shape of the flange.
    • Impression Die Forging: The preformed titanium is placed into the impression dies, which have the exact negative shape of the final flange. The dies are then pressed together with immense force, shaping the titanium into the precise dimensions of the flange.
    • Finish Forging: After the initial forging, the flange may undergo additional shaping or sizing to achieve the desired specifications. This may involve further forging or machining processes.
  5. Heat Treatment: The forged titanium flange undergoes heat treatment processes to enhance its mechanical properties, such as strength and durability. This typically involves heating the flange to a specific temperature and then cooling it at a controlled rate.
